The Winner Is:

Howard Park Wines, Madfish Riesling 2005M

The 6th Hyatt National (International) Riesling Challenge Best Riesling in Australia and New Zealand is Howard Park Wines, Madfish Riesling 2005.

The winner received the Trophy at a gala dinner together with a trip for two flying Qantas to Germany and 5 nights stay at the Hyatt Hotel Mainz in the Rhineland. Howard Park Wines, Madfish Riesling 2005 also won the Trophy for the Best Current Vintage Riesling.

Best Museum Class (2002 and older) – Peter Lehmann Reserve Riesling 2001

Best Canberra District Riesling (ACT Chief Minster’s Trophy) – Mundoonen Canberra District Riesling 2002

Best New Zealand Riesling – Villa Maria Estate Reserve Noble Riesling 2003

Best European Riesling (German Ambassador’s Trophy) – Weingut Schales, Schales Riesling Eiswein 2004

Best North American Riesling – Sheldrake Point Vineyard, Sheldrake Point Riesling Ice Wine

Chairman of the of the Hyatt National Riesling Challenge, Ken Helm, and Chairman of Judges, Wolf Blass, jointly announced that the event will be know as the Hyatt International Riesling Challenge in the future. They also announced the TOP 10 Rieslings, entitled to display a specially designed bottle sticker approved by the Winemaker Federation of Australia.
